We recruited Caroline as a Trustee because of her wide experience in the museums and arts educational sector. Her ongoing strategic input into our learning offer is making a significant impact and helping draw this core activity closer to the heart of our organisation.
Andrea Bishop Director of Collections, National Motor Museum, Beaulieu

Head of Learning: The Jewish Museum

As Head of Learning at the Jewish Museum, Caroline showed vision and creativity, and inspired the learning team to deliver engaging and challenging programmes for schools, young people and families. She brings exceptional commitment and enthusiasm to all her work.
Rickie Burman Emeritus Director, Jewish Museum London
Caroline is a skilled and organised educator and team leader. She is also hugely personable and motivated. I highly recommend her as an inspirational and enthusiastic person and colleague.
Esther Bentley Freelance Educator, the Jewish Museum and the Imperial War Museum
Caroline’s greatest contribution as team leader was to identify and nurture the individual strengths of everyone in the team. Under her guidance, each member forged a unique role contributing to a whole team-wide vision.

In particular, Caroline’s considerable experience in the wider context of museum education enabled the learning team to move forward in a professional manner. Caroline’s style of management is to be approachable and always engaged with those she works with. She is an excellent mentor and likes to use her team to bounce around ideas.

Most importantly, Caroline empowered everyone to fulfill their potential- she always acknowledged every members’ contribution and under her guidance, the Jewish Museum’s learning team became a more cohesive, professional and successful outfit.

On joining the National Gallery, I was struck by Caroline’s energy and professionalism. She has a passion for teaching and learning, drawing on her wide experience in and out of schools. Her strong vision is balanced with a practical ability to deliver effective projects. Teaching, Lecturing and Training

Visiting Lecturer and Module Leader

Caroline has devised and delivered a module concerning technology and material culture for the Institute of Education, University of London's MA in Museum and Galleries in Education. Drawing on her wide range of professional and academic experience the course was exemplary in terms of sustained engagement with students and external organisations. Alert to student needs she proved a great communicator always willing to engage in debate and encourage diversity and individual development. I recommend her without hesitation for university teaching.
Professor Pam Meecham, Institute of Education, University of London
I know Caroline as a colleague and former student. I can strongly recommend her to anyone looking for a highly effective consultant. Caroline is energetic, resourceful, experienced in many areas of education, interpretation and programming, very focused in whatever she does, and an effective team player in many different kinds of organisation including campaigns, independent and public museums and galleries, and higher education.
John Reeve Visiting Fellow, Institute of Education, University of London
Caroline has the ability to take a subject and see it from many different views and industries (exhibit design, app creation, game design, blogging and web design to name a few). Always looking to clarify, she truly ensures her students understand content as she pulls various resources and people together to help in the learning process. Caroline has the ability to leave people feeling enlightened and excited. Her passion for museums and learning is evident and it flows from her, exciting those around her in the process. Taking her class was well worth my time.
Kimberley Cobb, former student MA Museums and Galleries in Education

Lecturer

As a facilitator of tours for groups of visitors of mixed ages and a variety of backgrounds I asked Caroline to be our guide to the National Gallery requesting that she focus on specific themes such as marriage, celebration and religious issues. We were absolutely thrilled with the tours Caroline Marcus offered us. Visitors felt enriched, inspired and feeling that they had participated in a unique and tailor-made guided tour to a public museum. Several asked us to be put in touch with Caroline for further visits.
Eva Burke, Community Programmer, JW3
My best thing was… answering the phones, drawing trails, choosing for the gallery exhibitions, filling the case with things from the gallery, sticking labels on shop items and putting things in order…

Gallery trail

It was a huge pleasure to collaborate with Caroline on the "Katie" trail for the National Gallery. Her profound knowledge of the paintings and the mythology behind them was inspiring, her enthusiasm contagious. She brings enormous energy and passion to everything she does. When Caroline is involved, you can be certain that the future of museum education is in safe hands.
